In his own words:

Some schools already teach yoga. If children in all schools nationwide were to start practicing yoga, the benefits would include healthy and flexible mind and body, self discipline, happy mood, keeps the joints lubricated, muscles and tissues soft and lean, improvement in their immunity. There are endless benefits of practicing yoga.  Practicing yoga would help with concentration and focus of mind in their education, they would become calmer as a result. Pranayama (Breathing exercises) – Deep breathing helps to expand the lung capacity. A particular breathing exercise helps to increase Nitric Oxide which helps eliminate bacteria and viruses in our nasal passage. Nitric oxide’s role in dilating blood vessels makes it an important controller of blood pressure. It is also produced by neurons (nerve cells) and is used by the nervous system as a neurotransmitter to regulate functions ranging from digestion to blood flow to memory and vision, all this would be positively life changing.

Once yoga becomes part of life with the school children they would no doubt be willing to become teachers to their parents and grandparents – it is natural to broadcast all good news to close friends and relations. Worldwide, a number of countries already have yoga on their school curriculum  –  Yoga is universal and doesn’t belong to any country or religion.

Practicing Yoga every morning, has a positive physiological and psychological benefits – I started practicing yoga around 12 years ago and teaching around 6 years ago to mostly senior participants on chairs. The largest gathering was 89. The benefits they received was immense, a lot of them stopped taking medication as a result of improvement in their health. I am going to be 70 years this November. I practice yoga every morning for over an hour, have cold showers every morning in all weathers, I did 9 min and 50 second head stand on my 66th birthday.  All because of regular practice of yoga. I believed that I could do it, because my confidence also increased by practicing yoga. Yoga gives confidence to everyone including children especially, because they can prove to themselves that they can achieve whatever they set out to do. This further enhances their education on a daily basis.

As a grandparent, I feel very very strongly that we should ensure that our future generations are happy, healthy and eliminate hatred towards others and finally look after our planet Earth. There is no anger in a peaceful mind.

I have had meetings and discussions with my former MP – Justine Greening about this matter – she had at the time been Education Secretary – she showed keen interest at the time. I have also followed with the current Education Secretary – and will continue to promote yoga everywhere I can including the NHS. I would ask for you to please support this campaign to ensure that our future generations become healthy and free from anger and hatred, yoga does that. We need 100,000 supporters for the House of Commons to debate the above. I do not think any of the MPs would object. Do you think any MP would object?
